MacDonald Center is on the left and the West Hotel that they are redeveloping is on the right. The West Hotel's image doesn't do justice to the fact it is an eye-sore. The Center does good work in Portland and is a good neighbor in Old Town. If the design and appearance of the present Center is an example, the new addition will add to the neighborhood. Buildings that serve the poor can have an attractive design.
