Vatican wiretaps a manifestation of a dysfunctional organization

"Bertone [the man now holding temporary control over the Vatican] had authorized wiretaps, that most Italian of pastimes, to root out potential moles among clergy in the Vatican. The Holy See confirmed that it had ordered the bugging of some phones." [Scandals loom over Italians hoping to reclaim papacy].

It is an interesting read of intrigue within the leadership of the Catholic Church. It seems more like the mafia than the Catholic Church. Administering to the needs of Catholics worldwide is nowhere on the Church's list of priorities, if it even has one.
